I’m a female and am 5′11" and weigh 150 pounds. What is my ideal weight/some good weight-loss tips?

I used to weigh 125 when I was in high school and I’ve put on 25 pounds in five years since then. I do not want to be one of those women who gets fatter as they get older. I’m tall, so it doesn’t look as bad as it would on a shorter person, but 150 is a lot for a woman.

I really haven’t ever dieted or worked out before, so any guidance on what is HEALTHY and would be best is appreciated. I don’t want a quick Master Cleanse fix or something that is unhealthy or just a fad. But about working out - I think I’ll hate it. I’m not athletic (tall and gawky here) and have no rhythm or ability physically, so I’m worried about looking like a dummy at the gym. I really have no idea what would be good/what’s easy to do.

keep it around 150 and you boys will melt for you.
However you should start some form of exersice; whether its jogging, playing sports, swimming, yoga , pilate, squash, tennis, or whatever, choose something that you think you are gonna have fun doing. Doing exercise will make your body produce more endorphines which in turn will make you feel good and elevate your mood.
Also try to replace some of your simple carbs intake with some good carbs. ie, switch your blueberry muffin into raisinbran muffin. Also try to switch carbs with some protein. i.e switch your fried rice dinner with oven roasted chicken( YUM YUM).
cutting down on carbs will reduce that bloated feeling you might have sometimes.
In Conclusion, 1)do some exercise you like,2) cut down on some simple carbs, 3) don’t get caught in the media trying to sell you that anorexic look. 5′11′ at 150lbs is SEXY!

i ride bikes for the same reason. i have found no way to be cool in a gym. not the spandex carbon fiber bikes either. i have a freaking 40 pounder from walmart. (thats a workout!)

at your height the ideal weight is 155. at 5 feet tall you shouyld weigh 100 and add 5 pounds for each inch so your actually under your normal weight range. You dont need to lose any weight. 150 is alot for a woman thats 5 foot but not for one thats 5′11.

There is no ideal weight. I mean you could weigh 150 and have lots of fat or weigh 150 and have lots of muscle. Meaning that you could be a good weight if you have a lot of muscle but obese if its too much fat.

If you could provide your body fat % or measurements for your neck, waist, and hips then I could give you a good weight that should should weigh.

I am 5′2” and because of my body fat and muscle % my ideal weight is 140-150, which can make some ppl look obese but I look fine, I wear a size 5

theres nothing wrong with your weight, but its your perception that you need to change. dont be so insecure about what people think…its how you think about yourself that matters. you can do anything you set your mind on, there’s no such thing as you have no ability. Eating a balanced diet and exercise is good for everyone…it doesnt matter if it’s walking, running, swimming or playing sports or using exercise machines, you do what you enjoy. It’ll not only keep your body healthy but it really gets your mind off stress.

sounds like you have a BODY, like woww
but ride a bike everyday, & in 2 weeks, you will lose like 10 lbs

you are actually at a very good weight. it seems like 150 is alot for a woman but you are 5′11”! there is alot of difference. i am 5′8” and am good at 142. in fact, when i get lower than that my collarbone starts to stick out.

what i personally did when i lost 55 lbs was i counted my calories, 1200-1700 per day, but i also worked out 1 hour everyday, i lost 10lbs a month.

but seriously you are already at your ideal weight, if you just wanted to tone up a bit, i would just do some cardio.
