What should i eat to maintain a healthy diet and lose weight?
ByHi i was just wondering if you could give me advice as to what a HEALTHY diet would be. I am looking to lose a couple pounds, and i will do a 30 min run per day and weight training every other day? can you give me some healthy ideas as meals and post-workout snacks.
thanks
A healthy diet doesnt nessecerly mean eating less so you could just eat normally everyday without eating too much or too little and exercising everyday.
For example for breakfast instead of eating eggs and bacon stick with cereal.
Instead of a cookie for a snack try a banana
For lunch maybe try low fat food
Dinner take it seriulsy. Dont eat past 9pm. Eat a light, healthy dinner
Drink a lot of water throughout the day.
Hope i Helped!

Beans and rice and lean meats. Eat lots of fresh vegetables. And drink your Ovaltine!

High protein, high fiber, lots of water. No carbs at night,
pretend that fast food is now poison and all soda as well. even diet ones.
I wasnt overweight but sure didnt have a six pack either. but once i started running and strength training and really just staying active i easily lost 30 lbs.

My advice is to spend a little time and learn about food. What is health, what works for you. Make is food you enjoy or you won’t stick to the program long term.
I lost weight using Weight Watchers. I learned a lot about food from other sites too. By educating myself I learned what to eat to keep the weight off. Have kept it off for over 30 years.

Obviously, a healthy diet would consist of all the necessary foods one should eat a day (ie. protein, fibre, etc.) FYI a healthy diet does not consist of junk/canned food or soda. It’s amazing how many people add that junk into their "healthy diets". A piece of advice would be to eat slowly. That way your stomach will fill up faster and you don’t have to eat as much. Lower your proportions by a forth or less. Not by half… after all, you still have to eat. As for the exercise, start slowly. If you start doing too much, you’ll give up quickly- it’s not uncommon.
Meal ideas / Post-Workout Snacks:
NOT a store salad- make your own. Darker greens are encouraged.
Apples and Yogurt- Vanilla yogurt tastes great with apples, but I haven’t tried strawberry yogurt yet
Fruit platter- no, I don’t mean the huge ones. Grab an apple, orange, banana, and kiwi (or whatever fruit you absolutely adore). Chop ‘em up and toss them in a bowl. Eat them while watching the television or whatever.
Don’t steer clear of meat and go vegan- I don’t have any good meal ideas for protein in particular, so whatever. There’s dozens of good recipes online, so just look around.

PREPARE YOUR OWN FOOD AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE
While more and more restaurants are offering low-carb friendly menu items, many of them are still not ideal low-carb fare. There are many recipes for quick and easy meals that you can prepare yourself at home. Try to do this as often as possible.
If you cook your own foods, you know exactly what the contents are and you will be able to better control for hidden sugar and otherwise processed foods.
Another benefit is the cost savings over the long run. Even if you must go to the grocery store more often, you will save a significant amount per meal as opposed to eating at restaurants and fast food establishments.
It will also be easier to maintain your diet with your own favorite fresh food selections on hand.

EAT SOME PROTIEN AT EACH MEAL & AS A SNACK
In addition to everything thatæ¯ been discussed before, eating protein helps you burn more calories. Jeff Hample, Ph.D., R.D., a spokesman for the American Dietetic Association says that, "Protein is made up mainly of amino acids, which are harder for your body to breakdown, so you burn more calories getting rid of them.?br>
Just think ?eating a protein rich snack can help you lose weight. How about a few slices of turkey or ham or some string cheese?
Eating protein will also help you feel full so that you are less likely to crave unhealthy snacks.

Buy a pedometer, clip it to your belt, and aim for an extra 1,000 steps a day. On average, sedentary people take only 2,000 to 3,000 steps a day. Adding 2,000 steps will help you maintain your current weight and stop gaining weight; adding more than that will help you lose weight.

I have read a lot of information on this subject and what I have found from what I have read, is it is very important to not skip breakfast, to make sure you are very well hydrated, seems water is really important in losing weight, and great snacks are things like colorful veggies, roasted soy nuts, also to take part in some sort of support group, either online or in your community. The latest thing I read about was to understand your body and what is a good weight for you, is to make sure and know what Your BMI is, and our PF. They say to make sure you get enough minerals and vitamins also.
Hope this is of some help to you.

Excess weight or obesity is by far the number one health concern in this country.
Sixty percent of Americans are either overweight or obese, including over 20 percent of teenagers.
All are at risk for serious physical and emotional health problems.

I found this on this website. There are more tips and info.
1. If what you are eating has less than 1 carb, count it as 1 carb just to be sure.
2. Totally avoid caffine at least for the first two weeks on the program.
3. Drink a MINIMUM of 8 glasses of plain water or seltzer daily.
4. Don’t weigh yourself more than once a week
5. Take starting measurements as well as weight - sometimes you’ll lose inches before pounds
6. Avoid any type of "low carb" sweetener for the first two weeks
7. Don’t compare your loss to someone else’s - this is a YMMV thing (your milage may vary)
8. Stalls are common around the third week so don’t panic
9. If you follow your plan to the T and don’t lose, consider Candida as a possibility and avoid vinegar, cheese, mushrooms and any other fermented food
10. Have bloodwork done before starting so you have a comparison
11. Cholesterol can be elevated in the first few weeks til your body adjusts - make sure your doctor knows that you’re doing low carb and when you started
12. Don’t blame the diet if you don’t read your plan book — blame the diet if you don’t read the labels — Don’t blame the diet if you don’t follow the diet
