Hi there - BMI is more important to know than weight to help you with this. How tall are you? You could have 40lbs to lose or none. The Harcombe Diet is all about working wih your body to get to your natural weight. It won’t easily help you get below this.

Yes! You can do …
Yes! You can do Phase 1 as long as you like. It is not as limited as Atkins, for example. Another tip is to add Dairy back in for a modified Phase 1 - if you are confident that you have no dairy food intolerance. This gives you many more options (cheese salads, skimmed milk with porridge for breakfast etc) without adding more carbs into the diet.
If you have never craved dairy products (never been a cheese fiend or an ice-cream junkie) you should be safe with dairy

Hi there - It does work and none need go back on if you carry on with the principles of the diet. The record is 14lbs and this has been achieved several times. I am personally disappointed if people don’t lose 5-7lbs in the 5 days. Losses of 7-10lbs are the most common - often from people who have failed to lose 1lb in years.

Hi there - the answer is yes! This is safe for anyone of any age or in any stage of life a) because there is no attempt to get you to eat less - this is all about eating better and b) because The Harcombe Diet is all about only eating real food and avoiding all processed food and empty calories. This can only be good for you and your baby. Neither of you need trans fats or sugar at this critical time.

Hi there - no is the simple answer! Atkins starts off virtually zero carb. The Harcombe Diet allows brown rice & unlimited vegetables (except potatoes & mushrooms) for the first 5 days.
In Phase 2 we add in other good carbs (baked potatoes, brown rice, fruit etc) but we use what we know about insulin to make sure that we eat these good carbs in the right way to keep losing weight.
The Harcombe Diet is about attacking the 3 conditions that cause food addiction.

I wouldn’t say this …
I wouldn’t say this if it hadn’t happened on numerous occasions. You obviously believe the calorie theory - I don’t. Watch a Type 1 diabetic lose 20lbs in 10 days because their body has stopped producing insulin - nothing to do with calories whatsoever. Thermodynamics has been misapplied to the human body. Newburgh & Johnson were wrong. Calories are not the answer!
Also - remember the body is 60% water so you will always lose in at least that proportion, but you CAN lose 14lb in weight.

It is impossible to lose 14 pds in 5 days. thats about 42,000 + calories. The human body can only burn in average about 2,000 calories a day to those who workout and eat healthy. But overall what im trying to say is that u wont lose 14 pds. maybe 5 pds. maybe you should mention that they will lose weight rapidly not 14 pds in 5 days. thats insane

Hi there - I have never come across this! Are you doing Phase 1 of the diet properly? Phase 1 has a limited amount of rice allowed (and it must be brown rice). The foods that are UNlimited are meat, fish, eggs, salads, vegetables (except mushrooms and potatoes) and natural live yoghurt.
Phase 1 has been carefully researched to overcome the 3 conditions that cause food cravings. You would be the first person to put on weight if you are doing Phase 1 properly!

How much you will …
How much you will lose depends mostly on how much you have to lose and whether or not you have any of the 3 medical conditions explained in another video clip. Food Intolerance and Candida, particularly, cause water retention and bloating and, if you have either or both of these, you can feel fantastically better, slimmer and lighter in just 5 days. Give it a go - what have you got to lose, except up to 14lb?! All the best - Zoe

Many of the people I work with continue to lose at least 1kg a week during Phase 2, but weight loss depends on how much you have to lose, gender (men tend to lose quicker), how much you have dieted before and how much you have therefore messed up your metabolism.
